Vysotsky Vitaly Sergeevich was born on 08/22/1948. In 1972 he graduated with honors from the Physics Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1986 he defended his PhD thesis, and in 2004 he received the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, the topic "Stability and transitions to the normal state of superconducting devices – experimental research".
In 1970-1994 he worked at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences, then in a number of laboratories abroad: in the USA, Japan, France, the Netherlands, etc. Since 2002, he has been working at JSC VNIIKP: first as head of the laboratory, and now as Director of the scientific direction, head of the department of superconducting cables and wires. He supervised the manufacture and supply of superconducting cables and conductors at the expense of Russia's material contribution to the International Experimental Thermonuclear Reactor (ITER).
Full member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences of the Russian Federation and the International Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences.The oldest member (Senior member) Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), member of the Board of the European Association of Applied Superconductivity (ESAS Board), a number of organizational and program committees of international conferences.
