Abstract. The article presents an analysis of measuring and predicting the bandwidth parameters of multimode optical fibers OM2-OM5, which are widely used today in data centers, structured cabling systems, and intra-facility communication lines. Special attention is paid to the actual meaning of the term "Bandwidth" as the technical (not commercial) term and its dependence of the physical fiber or cable length. It is pointed out that the used by industry so-called "linear normalization" of the «commercial bandwidth» require much more attention to its actual meaning at fiber lengths of less than 1 km and hints to further research in this area.
Key words: multimode optical fiber, bandwidth, fiber bandwidth measurement methods, intermodal dispersion, differential mode delay

Abstract. The article shows that in order to control the continuous processes of conductor insulation application it is necessary to determine the value of the linear capacitance per unit length of the insulated conductor for each type of communication cable.
For this purpose an analytical expression of the mutual capacitance was obtained, which makes it possible to determine the value of the linear capacitance of a conductor with skin-foam-skin polyethylene insulation.
Based on the research conducted, practical recommendations are given for setting up the system of the linear capacitance automatic control when applying the insulation on the extrusion line.
