ANALYSIS OF POSSIBLE CAUSES OF ICE FORMATION ON LOADED POWER TRANSMISSION LINE CONDUCTORS

N.N. Khrenkov, Cand. Sc. (Engineering), Senior Research Scientist, Chief Expert of the Group of companies “Special Systems and Technologies”, full member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences of the RF

Abstract. The article presents the analysis of resultsl studies of the process of icing on transmission line conductors. The calculation of the conductor temperature dependence on air temperature and wind speed is also given. The combination of conditions that are most dangerous for icing is identified.

Key words: power transmission line conductors, process of ice formation/icing, air temperature and humidity, wind speed

Abstract. Intensive development of passenger high-speed and freight railway traffic demands higher standards for the safety and reliability of the transportation process, the development and implementation of advanced technical means of railway automation and telemechanics, innovative information and telecommunication technologies. In this regard, strict requirements are specified for the characteristics of signal and blocking cables. The article provides a comparative analysis of the electrical characteristics of signal and blocking cables with a screen in the form of a solid aluminum sheath and a screen made of aluminum wires and aluminum polymer tape.  It is shown that the production of insulated current-carrying conductors for signal and blocking cables, as well as for any other symmetrical communication cables, is carried out on extrusion lines equipped with automatic quality control devices, which ensures high stability of their geometric and dielectric characteristics. It is recommended to use these cables not only in railway transport, but also in other sectors where symmetrical communication cables are used.

Key words: signal and blocking cables, ideal protective action coefficient, low frequency characteristics, attenuation coefficient, near-end cross-talk attenuation, far-end protection
