Determination of the copper wire work-hardening level during cold welding
The present-day drawing process can be hardly imagined without welding technologies. The joining of wire ends makes it possible to run the drawing process with the elimination of lengthy procedures of slandering the head ends, threading of drawing dies and capstans. An attempt is made in the paper to assess the strained state of copper wire in the process of cold welding at the stage of drawing. It is most likely that the conclusions achieved will be true for drawing of other materials, for example for aluminum.

The paper describes the ZAO “Samara Cable Company” experience in using ВСК-13 drawing machine for drawing aluminum wire. Technical solutions aimed at increasing the machine productivity are suggested. An example of calculating the die set on the rebuilt ВСК-13machine for aluminum wire drawing is given. The suggested method may be used to reduce the drawing sequence in manufacturing various diameter wires. The calculation results are presented in the form of relative and absolute slip diagrams.

Basic principles of calculating wire enameling caliber sequence
The paper presents a simple method for calculating diameters of wire enameling calibers taking into account physical and chemical processes that occur during varnish film formation and its structurization in the process of heating in the enameling furnace. It is shown that generalized quantity of varnish solid residue in wire enameling under plant conditions can be determined on the basis of the enameling machine caliber sequence and the insulating coating thickness.
